Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, person-centered communication approach designed to help individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about change. Widely used in behavioral health, healthcare, education, and human services, MI strengthens motivation by fostering collaboration, evoking a person’s own reasons for change, and honoring autonomy.
At The Bridge Training Institute, our Motivational Interviewing trainings are led by Assistant Vice President, Suzy Langevin, LICSW, LADC I, and our lead trainer here at the Bridge Training Institute. Suzy brings decades of experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, clinical supervision, program leadership, and workforce development. Known for her engaging and practical teaching style, she helps participants move beyond theory to develop MI skills they can confidently apply in real-world settings.
Our MI training offerings range from introductory workshops for those new to the model to advanced skill-building experiences focused on enhancing practitioner proficiency. Participants learn how to build stronger helping relationships, elicit and strengthen motivation for change, respond effectively to resistance, and integrate MI principles into everyday conversations. Through interactive learning, demonstrations, practice opportunities, and personalized feedback, attendees leave with practical tools that can be implemented immediately to improve engagement, outcomes, and client-centered care.
Whether you work in behavioral health, healthcare, education, child welfare, corrections, or other human service settings, our Motivational Interviewing trainings provide the skills and confidence needed to support meaningful and lasting change.
